Monday, 19 January 2009 The Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs , YB Dato' Shahrir Abdul Samad was accompanied by Public Works Department (PWD) Director General, YBhg Dato' Sri Prof. Ir. Dr. Judin Abd Karim paid a working visit to Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI) and JB Sentral in Bukit Chagar. Johor Bahru. YB Dato' Shahrir, who is also the Johor Bahru MP had also invited twelve other relevant government agencies and NGO's to attend the briefing session and the building walkabout.
The minister's entourage arrived at the BSI at 9.30 a.m and was received and greeted by YBhg Dato' Sri Prof Ir. Dr. Judin, Gerbang Perdana Sdn Bhd Managing Director, YBhg Dato' Yahya A. Jalil and other PWD senior officers at the entrance of JB Sentral at Jalan Jim Quee. The minister and his entourage were invited to the meeting room in level 2 of BSI for a project briefing. The briefing cum meeting session was chaired by the minister and conducted by JKR-GSB Project Director, Ir. Tuan Haji Zulkifly Madon.

The briefing encompassed of the project backgrounder, objectives and on-going issues surfaced after the launch and operational of the BSI from 16 December 2008 until today. Apart from highlighting public quandaries, the JKR-GSB team had also proposing measures to overcome issues highlighted by the public. The briefing and Q &A sessions with all relevant agencies lasted for two hours. After the close-door session with the agencies, the minister called members of the media for a separate session with a brief on the content of the issues and proposed solutions discussed.

After the briefing, the minister's entourage were taken for a tour of the BSI. The tour was led by Ir. Tuan Haji Zulkifly which includes the entire passengers' hall - inbound, outbound and the concourse area. The entourage thereafter headed to the link-bridge and JB Sentral for a view of pedestrians walking passed from / to the city centre. The entourage ended the walkabout with a drive through to the Short Term Access (STA) and the old CIQ in Tanjung Puteri.
The working visit ended at 2.00 p.m.
