The Gerbang Selatan Bersepadu (GSB) project site today received an auspicious visit by YB Dato' Mustapa bin Mohamed, a Minister in the Prime Minister's Department. This visit took place preceding the bilateral talks between the Senior Minister of Singapore, Goh Chock Tong and the Malaysian Prime Minister, Dato' Seri Abdullah Bin Hj Ahmad Badawi to resolve bilateral issues of importance between the two countries. The GSB Project is one of the items up for discussion specifically on the component of the construction of the Road & Rail Bridge to replace the Johor Causeway.
Dato' Mustapa's visit took place at 10.30am and was warmly received by the Managing Director of Gerbang Perdana Sdn Bhd, YB Dato' Yahya A. Jalil. Also present to welcome the Minister were Ir. Dr. Judin Abdul Karim the Deputy Director General II of the Public Works Department (PWD), YBhg Dato' Ir. Mohd Noor Yaacob the Director for Johor State PWD, Tuan Haji Sarmin Md Hussin the Director for the Johor State Royal Customs Department and his Deputy Tuan Haji Roslan bin Yusof, Tuan Haji Mohd Nasir Osman the Deputy Director for the Johor State Immigration Department, En. Mohd Riduan Ali the Assistant Director for the Johor State Economic Planning Unit, engineers from the Public Works Department and Board of Directors of Gerbang Perdana Sdn Bhd. YB Dato' Mustapa's entourage included Tuan Haji Zubir Abdul Aziz, Director, Infrastructure & Utilities Section of the Prime Minister's Department Economic Planning Unit. |

The visit commenced with a GSB Project Progress briefing and visual presentation by Ir. Anton Sebastian the Construction Director, PWD. The half hour presentation included a digital animation video walk-through of the entire project consisting of the Customs, Immigration & Quarantine (CIQ) Complex, the Johor Bahru Sentral and the Road & Rail Bridge . This was followed by a group photography session and the entourage was later taken for a site visit to the new CIQ Complex under construction. At the new CIQ site, YB Dato' Mustapa was given a briefing on the project master-plan by the Operations Director, Tuan Haji Rostam Razali. |

YB Dato' Mustapa Mohamed's visit received a very favourable response from the local media whereby all major print and electronic media were represented and a press conference was held immediately after the site visit. |

Lunch was served soon after and a closing speech was given by the Minister to all employees and guests in attendance. The ceremony ended with a unique prayer recital led by Tuan Syed Sidik from the 'Jemaah Al-Harun'. |
