GERBANG has on its board of directors, professionals adept and honed by years of experience in their chosen fields. The board is chaired by Tan Sri Razali Ismail, who sits on the boards of many public listed companies and various non-listed companies, a majority of which actively participate in the construction and engineering industry.

Dato' Yahya A. Jalil is the Managing Director of GERBANG. Ali Shah is the company secretary.

  TAN SRI RAZALI ISMAIL , Chairman
 

Graduated from University of Malaya with a Bachelor of Arts (Literature) Degree in 1962.

Has been the United Nations Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Myanmar since April 2000, Chairman of Yayasan Salam (the Malaysian Peace Corps) since its inception in July 1997, and Chairman of a number of public listed companies - involved in project development, microchip technology, engineering, insurance and the environment. He is an Honorary Fellow of the Institute for Environment and Development, National University of Malaysia and was appointed a Pro- Chancellor of Universiti Sains Malaysia for a 5-year term July 2001. He was appointed President of World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Malaysia for a 5-year term effective from 1 July 2003. He is also the Special Envoy of YAB Prime Minister of Malaysia to facilitate assistance to Tsunami disaster victims.

Tan Sri Razali joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1962 and held various positions before retiring from the Malaysian Diplomatic service in 1998.

During this period he was appointed Ambassador to Poland in 1978 (with concurrent accreditation to the then German Democrat ic Republ ic, Czechoslovakia and Hungary ) before serving as the High Commissioner to India in 1982. He was Deputy Secretary-General of Political Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1985. As the Permanent Representative of Malaysia to the United Nations from 1988 to 1998, (and concurrent Ambassador to Cuba , Jamaica , Saint Lucia , Barbados , Trinidad and Tabago), Tan Sri Razali served in various capacities in the World Body and was also actively involved in several bodies - both within and outside the United Nations system - especially those dealing with development, environment, human rights and reform of the United Nations. From 1989 to 1990, he headed the Malaysian delegation to the UN Security Council and served twice as its President - in June 1989 and again in July 1990. In 1989, he was Chairman of the Group of 77. He was elected Chairman of the Commission on Sustainable Development in 1993. Tan Sri Razali was President of the Fifty-First Session of the United Nations General Assembly, 1996/1997. He was the Special Adviser to the then Malaysian Prime Minister YABhg Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad from July 1998 - July 2003. He received the first Elizabeth Haub Prize for Environmental Diplomacy from Pace University, New York on 11 May 1999 and was conferred a Fellow of INTAN on 15 May 1999 . He was conferred the "Orde Nation al du Merite" (National Order Merit) by the French Government in November 2000. Conferred Honorary Doctorate of Law by Universiti Malaysia Sarawak in August 2002.

  DATO' YAHYA A. JALIL, Managing Director
  A graduate in Town & Country Planning, Dato’ Yahya has been in the construction business since 1977. He is the founder and owner of the IBEX Group of Companies (IBEX) and has been steering IBEX to its height, having its success in infrastructure and property development projects. He founded IC&E Group Sdn Bhd in 1991 and it is currently a Class A Contractor with an impressive project track record including the construction of multi-million ringgit infrastructure and property projects such as the Aquatic Centre at the National Sports Complex at Bukit Jalil, the Administration Building for the PUTRA LRT and toll plazas along the New Klang Valley Expressway and PLUS Expressway.

Dato’ Yahya is also the Managing Director and owner of Gerbang Perdana Sdn Bhd (Gerbang). Gerbang possesses an impressive experience in undertaking major projects. An organisation with a core team of 60 qualified and experienced professionals of various expertise and background, Gerbang is the turnkey contractor for the Gerbang Selatan Bersepadu (GSB) Project, located in Bukit Chagar, Johor Bahru.

Awarded in 2003, the GSB Project is a timely solution to address the shortcomings of the existing Johor Causeway and Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex. The new CIQ Complex which has been named as Bangunan Sultan Iskandar and graced by His Majesty Sultan Iskandar Ibni Almarhum Sultan Ismail, the King of Johor on 1 December 2008 .It was officially opened to public on the 2 December 2008, Bangunan Sultan Iskandar will serve as a premier southern gateway to Malaysia.

As a progression of the GSB project and to ensure sustainability, Dato’ Yahya has been entrusted by the Government and given the responsibility to undertake the Facility Management of the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar for a period of ten years. The contract was awarded to Advanced Maintenance Precision Management Sdn Bhd (AMPM) where Dato’ Yahya is the Managing Director and owner.

In line with its strategic positioning in the service industry, in August 2007, AMPM together with Public Works Department , Malaysia (PWD) have been appointed as the joint-organiser by The Hon. Prime Minister of Malaysia for the inaugural National Asset and Facility Management (NAFAM) Convention 2007 which has been successfully held.

Dato’ Yahya is also the Managing Director and owner of H2O Sports Sdn Bhd, the organiser of the Formula 1 Powerboat World Championship Malaysian Grand Prix. Under his leadership and guidance, H2O Sports has revolutionised the organising of Formula 1 Powerboat with introduction of the Malaysian leg into the World Championship series in 2001.

Dato’ Yahya was elected as the Administrator for the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM) at the 75 th UIM General Assembly held in Cape Town , South Africa in 2002. UIM is the world governing body for all motorised water sports with its headquarters based in Monaco . In 2004, Dato’ Yahya was unanimously appointed as the Vice-President, Continental and Regional ( South-East Asia ) at the 77 th UIM General Assembly in Portimao , Portugal . In 2007, his appointment as the Vice-President, Continental and Regional (South-East Asia) was extended for another term at the 80 th UIM General Assembly in Antalya, Turkey, where he also managed to secure appointment of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia as the UIM South-East Asia Regional Office.

These appointments are testament to UIM’s acknowledgement to his commitment, dedication, ability and contribution to the world of Formula 1 Powerboat. It was yet another recognition for Malaysia as no other Asian has been placed high in the UIM and Malaysia has broken the tradition by becoming the first regional office formed by UIM, outside its headquarters in Monaco .

Further, Malaysia has been accorded the “Best Organiser”for the World Championship Series for 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004. With this success, Dato’ Yahya saw the importance of developing and creating opportunities for Malaysian youth to take part in motorised water sports. Hence, H2O Sports together with Malaysia ’s Ministry of Youth and Sports launched the Formula Future programin 2003.

The objective of the Formula Future program is to train youth 8 to 18 years old in basic powerboating, which the pinnacle is to create Malaysia ’s very own F1 Powerboat pilots. Since its inception the Formula Future program has a total number of 600 pilots participated in the program and expanded to 8 states.

Dato’ Yahya’s commitment in ensuring the Formula Future program mission and vision are met can be illustrated in the stature that the sports has achieved thus far. In 2004, Dato’ Yahya initiated the Formula Future Introduction Championship, 10 best pilots, 2 of each class (Class 1 to Class 5) were selected to represent Malaysia to compete in the Formula Future World Championship.

Formula Future Malaysia team did not wait long as they did the nation proud by becoming the World Champions for 2004 in its debut in Lisbon , Portugal . The Formula Future Malaysia team has been persistent in its performance in the world feats and bagged the world championshipsfor 2005, 2007 and 2008 as well.

Through his success and experience in myriads of projects and events of national importance, he has gained trusts among the various stakeholders on his ability to deliver and achieve excellence. This has also culminated into his success in building relationships with the various key figures, industry players and strategic partners for business development and cooperation.

These relationships and strategic alliances have enabled Dato’ Yahya to position his organisations to venture into the incorporation of GFM International Sdn Bhd, IBEX Technologies Sdn Bhd and Hujung Tanah Sdn Bhd, special purpose companies set up to undertake specific projects locally and abroad.

With his experience and passion, Dato’ Yahya is poised to steer his group of companies to a greater height.

For his many contributions to the nation, Dato’ Yahya has been conferred the following orders of chivalry by His Majesty Sultan Iskandar Ibni Almarhum Sultan Ismail, the King of Johor:
  • 1995 - The Most Honourable Order of the Crown of Johor, 2nd Class: Commander
  • 2005 - The Most Honourable Order of the Crown of Johor, 1st Class: Grand Commander
